Yaakkai Movie Review
Yakkai is a mystery murder that ultimately revolves around medical scam. It’s romantic thriller movie that has started its pre-production since 2015. After Yatchan, Swathy and Krishna backed again in this film. But this time, with the companions of leading actors, likes Prakash Raj and Guru Somasundaram.
The film starts with an attention-grabbing scene that is a BMW is pushed off from the 24th floor of a hospital with the chairman Dr.Krishnamoorthy (Radha Ravi) inside. Now, at the ground, the murder is investigated by police officer Sahayam (Prakash Raj), who is a sincere and genuine cop. After hearing the news, the doctor’s son Shriram(Guru Somasundaram) return India from the US and came to know that there is some mystery in his dad’s death. This indicates that he is the baddie in this drama.
In the parallel track, there is an introduction to Kathir(Krishna), a Viscom student highly interested in photography. He then saw a girl Kavitha(Swathy Reddy) who is a school teacher at a bus stop talking with deaf and mute kids, and then, as usual, the instant love occurs. This correctly reminds the Asin’s introduction in Suriya’s Ghajini.
Suddenly, series of murders takes place from auto driver to hospital manager, and there is a twist that occurs in the interval that is Krishna is the murderer. How the two story coverage connects each other will form the rest.
Krishna as a hyperactive person did not create the right impact. The problem arises with the characterization. Even, the character is Swathy is also not up to the mark. However, she looks gorgeous in this movie and has lots of scenes in this film when compared to her previous works. But, as usual, Prakash Raj proved his versatility, and he steals the entire show with his acting capabilities. Guru Somasundaram well-known for his performance ‘Joker’ cast as an American return, but he is totally a miscast.
Kuzhanthai Velappan’s writing is extraordinary. The big issue with the movie happens due to the weak screenplay and bouncy recitation. Sathya Ponmar’s cinematography is a plus to this flick. Yuvan’s songs are adequate, and as well songs are quite good.
On the whole, it’s a romantic crime thriller drama which will never make you feel bored while watching.
